three times not the charm
I have 11 tattoos...and haven't had a problem with any of them except the one on my chest. Its been touched up three times,, trying to get it to stay red. The last of the scabs fell off today and surprise surprise....left a white spot. Grrrrrrr.

1. What brand of ink is your guy using
Also, chest/sternum sucks balls for healing, especially in girls (my chest needs MAJOR touch-up work, about 4 hours worth, which is why I've been putting it off for 6 years . I've never seen anyone who didn't need touch up work there. Also, what do you do for aftercare, because that could have a big effect? You basically want to avoid having it scab, as that is what is pulling the color out.

2. I'm not sure what brand
I know he tried a new one this time....I wash it with anti-bacterial soap and use A&D....the only place it scabbed was right in the middle where the white spot is....

3. Maybe don't use A&D
you could be developing an allergy to it, I know that last time I used it, in addition to the rash it caused (looked like zits all over the tat and where the ointment touched), my tat got a cookie (big giant thick crusty scab, with the color pulled out underneath). Also, I only clean 2x a day, as the anti-bac soap is very drying and can irritate skin, causing it to take longer to heal. I usually use aquaphor, well, the generic store brand version, for three days instead of AD or other barriers with a lot of additives, then just a very mild lotion, and seem to be avoiding big horking scabs now (thank god! I love tattoos but fucking HATE getting tattooed).

Red is one of those inks that are so hard to lay in there, and different brands lay so differently. My brothers have both finally found one that they really like that seems to "stick" really well, yours has that same nice deep red, so I'm willing to bet your artist was also on the eternal quest for the best red (good purple is also a bitch to find apparently).

I'm getting some more done on my sleeve next Friday, so I'll be bitching about the itching and scabs in about a week. At least we're done with the ditch of my elbow, THAT sucked.

4. yeah, maybe
I'll lay off the A&D.... I only used it for two days...as I also found it slows the healing. I never wash it more than twice a day...

I don't know if I'll get it touched up again, of course its my most painful tat...but I'm begining to think it hopeless

I'd love to see pix of your new ones when you get them.
