18. School surprised me by not being too rough this semester.
I have a paper and a debate case to write this month and a couple of tests, but nothing to stress over really. The kid's being a doll, so that helps. Hours are picking up at work again, so I'm not entirely broke.

The only thing I'm really stressing out about is some business paperwork I've been working on for my father and as soon as I get the last segment of that back from the DMV (they're funny, I spent an hour and a half there yesterday and they told me they couldn't take care of me because I had some unspecified missing paperwork, my Dad went in to the same office with the same stack of paperwork today and was in and out with what he needed in ten minutes) hopefully this week, I might have to drive it all into San Francisco, but then I'm done worrying about that finally.

Oh, and I've officially been veg for five years. :D

Fun chatting, but tell me about those vowels. I guess there's no vowel at the start of Totonno's. Now I'm really drooling, though we used to enjoy 26th St. in Rockaway for some fine pizza! NY pizza, there's nothin' like it!:9

Cedar was the name of a kid who lived down the hall in my freshman year in college.

Thiago was the name of a friend of a couple of my friends. He made headlines a few months ago when he built a small nuclear fusion reactor in his basement. (The kid's a teenager.)

37. Call to mind the Hogg family; true story. Daughters named Ima and Ura...
Edited on Sat Mar-03-07 02:39 AM by babylonsister
So I lied. I just found out Ura was a figment. But Ima was awesome!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ima_Hogg

Ima Hogg (July 10, 1882 – August 19, 1975) was one of the most respected Texas women of the 20th century. Born in the small town of Mineola, Texas, the daughter of a one-time Texas governor, James Stephen Hogg (Big Jim Hogg), her roots were deeply embedded in the state’s welfare.

Ima was named after an epic Civil War poem that her uncle, Thomas Hogg, had written. The heroine of the poem was called Ima, short for Imogene. Hogg later recounted: "My grandfather Stinson lived 15 miles from Mineola and news traveled slowly. When he learned of his granddaughter's name he came trotting to town as fast as he could to protest but it was too late. The christening had taken place, and Ima I was to remain." Contrary to popular belief, Ima did not have a sister named "Ura". She was affectionately known as "Miss Ima" by those who knew her and considered by many to be "The First Lady of Texas."

71. They were African-American, but not recent immigrants
but yes, I'm sure there was a sense of ethnic pride in the choosing of these names.

72. I have cousin named Siobhan--yes spelled that way, too.

75. Yep--and it's a really nice name, imo
but people seem to find it puzzling.

Folks who know the Bible will recognize this as the name of David's first wife. Folks who don't, find it odd.

88. My dad....
Whenever anyone remarks on it (or even sometimes when he introduces himself) he has a standard lame joke that I must have heard times. Someday I'll miss hearing him say it, but it's always just made me roll my eyes and cringe a little.
