A funny thing happened on the bus today.

Mind you, I don't live in an exciting town, but the morning the bus picked up a teenage guy and when he got in a black button bounced on the floor so he picks it up and looks at his jacket which is a zip up and he had a t-shirt on but the look on his face was priceless. It was all I could do to keep from bursting out laughing so I faked a cough. However I couldn't look at him the rest of the trip even though he was across from me or I'd just break up. Before I got on there was a bad intersection accident (no one really hurt bad) right smack at the bus stop with CHPs and fire trucks everywhere so maybe on a normal morning this button incident wouldn't have been as funny. Tragity and humor all at once.

People all stuck in their cars in traffic miss all of humanities foibles unfolding on a moment by moment basis. All for our entertainment. :)

looking over my shoulder at a book I was reading; "I bet you're the smartest person on the bus."

or the time when a sleeping old guy's coffee spilled all over the isle and he was told about it: "I spilled my coffee, AGAIN?"

or driver to passenger: "Mamn, you'll have to dump the beer before you get on my bus." "But, I'm not driving."

Yeah, all sorts.

I was riding "over the hill" - that is, from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos one day and the guy behind me got talking to me. When I told him I lived in Los Gatos, he said, "Oh, you must be rich then."

Well, Los Gatos IS a wealthy town but I'm certainly NOT rich and if I was, I wouldn't have been on that bus because the service is so lousy it takes close to 3 hours to make a 20 minute trip.

But I flippantly replied, "Yeah, I am" figuring he was kidding. He wasn't.

"Really?" he said in awe. "Why are you riding the bus?"

"Well," I told him, "The limo's in the shop and sometimes I just like to mingle with the little people, you know?"

It was a strange ride...

and saw a gorilla (well, a man in a gorilla suit) playing a trumpet on the sidewalk near one of the stops. I thought it was amusing, and looked around to see if anyone else noticed so I could share the laugh with them but everyone else either didn't notice, or pretended not to.
