I've seen Britney Spears do this...is there a significance to making the "V sign" in this manner?

7. Seriously, though. That picture isn't Britney. That was just a point of reference.
To be honest, this is from a picture I believe to be a former student of mine. We're trying to figure out the significance of the hand sign.
