Melatonin

A friend of mine who travels overseas a lot has begun taking this drug for jet lag. I checked it out on the internet and it seems harmless enough, does anyone here have any info on it?

I used to have to sleep shift a lot at a previous job and tried melatonin.

I'd say don't use it if your only sleep shifting once for a few days, which is the very description of jet lag. It never seemed to 'put me right out' but rather had a cumulative effect and just made me sleepy over time. It was like I was always in dreamworld.

Exedrine PM always seemed to work better in a pinch. I'd say 2 the first time you were trying to shift and one every time thereafter before bed.

To answer your question, melatonin is harmless. It's a naturally occurring hormone.
