Does the Barefoot Contessa have any male friends who aren't gay?
Except for her husband, every male she's ever had on the show (that I've seen) is gay.

Nothing wrong with it, of course, but one wonders if she has some kind of addiction to gay men or if she's just trying to show the world how utterly Hamptons-hip she is.

1. I noticed that too. I'm sure part of it is her profession and perhaps
where she lives? I don't know much about the area. It seems like a lot of her friends worked with or for her at one time or another.

And, I don't know if this is the case with her but I know a lot of larger women feel more comfortable with gay men because they don't feel judged. For most of my adult life I've been about her size (I'm much smaller now) and often noticed that many straight men seem uncomfortable being friends with fat women unless they are "couple friends" (i.e. husband and wife A are friends with husband and wife B and do stuff together as couples). As if being friendly to a fat woman will "give her ideas" or something. I also notice now that I'm getting thinner that reaction is changing, and I don't feel like I've changed one bit (except physically).

4. I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it, I have noticed
a lot of larger women with gay male friends.

And I'm sure part of it is where she lives (Manhattan and the Hamptons; outside of Fire Island and maybe San Francisco, it don't get no gayer than those two) and the work that she's done. And maybe if she does have straight male friends, perhaps they don't have any skills that could be showcased on her cooking show.

2. "Except for her husband?"
The fuck? Jeffrey couldn't be any more of a queen if he were wearing sequined pumps.

5. I should not be sitting her laughing at your post but I can't help it. In fact,
my daughter and I just about tip over laughing at some of those 'intimate' scenes between those two. I'm not saying that they don't love each other because they seem made for each other. I'm just saying that that scene sitting on the wall by the water in France, you know, the picnic episode? That was hilarious. It seems that their idea of romance and foreplay is all food-related.

8. Here's some info on her husband.

On the subject of Ina's gay friends: I think it does have something to do with the people she used to work with, Secondly, what is wrong with her having friends who are gay? I, for one, am glad to see that gay people aren't shunned and ridiculed like they used to be. I especially appreciate the fact that HGTV doesn't have a problem showing two guys who are getting their house remodeled.

9. BTW, Ina has a pretty good record in campaign contributions:
She supported Clinton in '92 and Kerry in 2004. Unfortunately, she also contributed G.H.W. Bush in '91.:puke:

10. Is this an Access Hollywood Type Question
What difference does it make who her friends are? She's been married to her husband for 35 years. So she has a soft-spoken, sensitive and nerdy husband - it works for them. I love her and enjoy her show. I had a catering business in another life and NOT all the men are gay and those who were gay were FABULOUS at their job!
