Recommendations for a new coffee maker?

I recently threw out my Cuisinart because it was apparently the ants' nest. :puke:

So, Here's what I want. I want a coffee maker that will keep the coffee hot. I have an espresso machine, so I don't need the dueling carafe deal, but which maker do you guys recommend?

And, I have a French Press also, makes wonderful coffee, but a little too tedious and timeconsuming during the week.

(and that goes for their other appliances too.)

Nowadays I make myself cappucinos, one at a time, but I've got the trusty larger machine squirrelled away for when company comes....

I think there's also a 12-cupper.
It's very conventional.
Takes cone-type paper filters (or the reusable metal filter) and is relatively inexpensive.
Mine is black, comes in White also and maybe other colors.

I really do like it. Actually, this is my second one--the first one gave up after about fifteen years of daily use. I use the metal filter.

Occasionally I think about getting the version with the clock and auto-timer, but then that would just be something else that could break!

the ones that make a mugful at a time? That way you only have fresh coffee every time. I've got the big Cuisinart but I'm looking to downsize since I only make about 1/2 pot every morning for myself.

because my husband and TeenMidlo like coffee as well.

TeenMidlo's has so much milk and sugar in it, it's more like a coffee shake.

I like the one in my office a LOT, but I don't usually start work until about 7AM and by then I've had a least two cups.

However, I am an elitist when it comes to coffee.

Bring two gallons water to a boil. Add several handfulls of coffee. continue boiling for 15 minutes. Throw in a number 2 horseshoe. If it sinks continue boiling.

is the standard 8-cup metal carafe model they sell at Starbucks. I think it's a DeLonghi...anyways I've processed about 20 returns in the past 2 months because the %^$#@!!! thing will not keep coffee hot. It makes a great cup of coffee provided that you drink it in the first 20 minutes...after that it's useless for anything but chilled or iced coffee drinks. (I recently wrote a letter to Seattle explaining that I cannot recommend this product so I wish they'd remove it from the lineup.)

If the issue with the French press is boiling time for water, you might consider an "insta-hot" tap. Before I moved into the house where I "inherited" my first one, I said "Why on earth would anybody ever need that?" Well...I can't live without it now. It's not cheap but what it'll save you in energy costs and time boiling water for pasta, rice, tea, coffee, etc. in 1- 3 years makes up the cost.

As for a drip brewer I can't recommend one personally because I haven't owned one in 5 years.

Makes good coffee and keeps it hot in 'sealed' container.
Doesn't get that scorched taste after an hour or so exposure to air like 'open pot' makers..

I have one that has the reserve hot water tank in the back. You put the coffee in the filter basket, put the pot underneath and use the plastic pitcher that comes with it to pour fresh water into the top. As you are pouring in the water, the hot coffee is coming out into the pot. Takes about five minutes or less! They also have one that has a thermal carafe that the coffee goes into. They are around $135.00. I need to get the carafe one when this one dies. Oh and I have had this particular one for 7 years, with little up keep. I pour some white vinegar in it once a year to get rid of the hard water build up. Makes good coffee! Recovery time is around 15 minutes and you are ready for another pot.
I have a Braun coffee/cappuccino machine, made great coffee, but took twenty minutes to brew a pot! I don't like to wait for my coffee!!! :hug:

This is the infamous Miele Coffee System. Eighteen hundred dollars ($1800--yes, you read right, two grand for a coffeepot once you've paid tax), requires a framed opening to put it in, does everything except drink it.

It's no La Marzocco. $9,000 (for a decent used four-group unit) and requires a 2 hour training to learn how to use. The gold standard in espresso quality though. Everything else is measured against La Marzocco.

At work, we have Verismo 301s, but those are expensive because they're designed to be virtually moron-proof.

I've used the Rabrrrrrr brand before, but somehow end up with a dry Martini in my hand instead.
