Grammar question.
Take the sentence:

"You're so vain; you probably think this song is about you."

Now, obviously "you" is the subject of the sentence, in both clauses, right? What about object? Is "you" also the object, or is "song" the object, or is both "you" and "song" the objects?

1. I'll hazard a guess
The first "you're" : You (sub) are (verb), vain (obj)
The second "you" : You (sub) think (verb) song (obj), about you (prepositional phrase describing "song")

I might be wrong, but thanks for the mental tuneup

3. Sort of.
The first part is pretty clear. In the second independent clause, "this song is about you" is really a that-clause (with that omitted.) It's a noun clause that works as the object of think.

Or, if this helps to visualize:

you (subj) + think (trans. verb) + (that) this song is about you (noun clause/object of verb)

(I think.)
