Actually, I've been there and done that.

Not the BDSM, I hasten to add. :o

It was a copycat that needed to be freed from my consciousness before I could sleep....

2. I only spent a little time there

but never particularly liked it that much, the tourist areas (especially the French Quarter -- I'd love it, the architecture and everything, if they'd get the stupid, obnoxious, drunk tourists out of there) most of all.

I like oyster po' boys, though. :D

And, of course, jambalaya and a couple of other things.

And the Aquarium.

If you find a cemetary in the city take a picture and post it! I haven't been in like 15 years but I don't think it got washed away. (that's a though.. the graveyard on-the-move..)

A carriage ride might sound hokey, but you'll see the French Quarter (and put more money into the local economy).

I could go for a Hurricane from Pat O'Brien's, an Apocalypto Rum Punch from Margaritaville, and a Crescent City Brew from the CCBrewhouse.

Also, I think just walking around the quarter and taking in all of the sights is a great way to spend the day. New Orleans has so much more to offer though! But for 1 day, that is how I would spend it! Have fun!

7. Tour Saint Louis Cathedral and visit Jackson Square after eating at Cafe Du Monde.

The guide explains the history, architecture, artwork of the cathedral. The church is very old and historic. The tour is free although you can make a donation.

You'll remember the Cathedral and the Square from Chimpy's photo op right after Katrina. He desecrated that sacred place but, hopefully, it has been ritually cleansed by the Catholic Church and local voodoo priests.

Cafe Du Monde is not to be missed. Also, check out the market o=in the French Quarter. It lots of fun to stroll around. You can get excellent pralines there.
