I just rediscovered this gem. The Smith's "Stop Me (If You Think You've Heard This One Before)
Great lyrics:

"Nothing's changed
I still love you, oh, I still love you
...Only slightly, only slightly less than I used to, my love"

Great guitar riff follows ... Dah dah dah dah da..DAH DAH DAH!

Love the Morrissey lookalikes biking about ...

1. Pure genius. I recently finished converting all my cds to mp3s so I've been
revisting my whole record collection. The Smiths are just as fresh and wonderful as they always were, whereas other groups from that time period have not held up as well.

2. Cool ...
Although I'd say that groups like The Violent Femmes, World Party, Pretenders, Replacements, early REM, and many others still sound great. There were a lot of stinkers from that era, though, as there are in every era.

:hi:

3. Oh sure, you won't find too many people more into eighties music than I am.
And all the groups you listed are great. But even among some of the groups I still love, their music from that era sounds like it's from that era. But the Smiths sound like the Smiths.
