One of the WTFs ...

Last week, my Godmother Ruth passed away. She's had health issues all her life: scarlet fever, heart issues because of the fever, MS. Just one of those persons in your life that always made you feel good. Every year, she would mail me a birthday card and put $10 in it. I got one last year and I turned 41. God, I'm going to miss her.

My mother is her Godmother. Tuesday night was the wake, about an hour's drive. Myself, my sister and her husband went. My mother was feeling down and just wanted to go to the funeral the next day. Wednesday morning, the four of us drive up. We get out of the vehicle and start to head to the funeral home. My mother turns to my sister and asks for her purse. She grabs it (weighed probably 10 pounds), loses her balance and hits the ground on her right side. It was near a snowbank and she hit her head there (fortunately). We called an ambulance and they got her to the hospital (of all things, Ruth was an X-Ray technician at that hospital). She suffered several fractures from her right shoulder to above the elbow. They loaded her up with morphine and gave her a prescription for pain. She's scheduled for a catscan Thursday so they can determine the full extent of the injuries.

We missed the funeral and burial and mom's gonna go through operations and therapy. This blows.
