I haven't posted in a long time because my loving partner, Claudia, was diagnosed with advanced small cell lung cancer in early Feb. 2006. She passed away Feb. 19th, 2007, and I miss her terribly. I would just like to mention that Claudia loved this web site. She was a staunch liberal and she followed politics rabidly until she was too weak and overcome by brain tumors. I wish she could have lived to see someone more concerned about the environment, the public, and the country as a whole in office as President of the United States.

Please keep me in your thoughts. Claudia was my life partner for over 17 years and we loved each other very, very much. I am struggling to keep my head above water these days - my grief is overwhelming. I can use all the support you can muster. Thanks.

I've had to deal with grief in my life, but never like this. I lost both my Dad and my aunt, who was my second mother, also to cancer. But this is the toughest blow. You will be in my thoughts and certainly have my support. Your friends on DU are here for you, always...

to make Claudia's wishes come true. Maybe that will give you a small measure of comfort.

She still lives in your heart, in your thoughts and your memories! While her body has left this world, she is still alive within you, in what you do, everyone you meet and know, and what you will do in the future! She is no longer suffering.

Personally, I have experienced about 10 funerals in an 8 year period, which included many physical and spiritual family members. I know that the experience of death is different each time, but for me knowing that all of these people still live within me helped me to accept their demise.

I am truly sorry for your loss, and it may take some time for you to adjust. I just hope that what little I've said here has helped. If not, I apologize for any offenses!
