1. I have had my left hip replaced twice.
YMMV, but I was on very restricted motion (as far as how far I could bend the joint) for 6 weeks afterword. I was on crutches for about 10 weeks, 5 of them totally not weight bearing on the affected joint at all. then phasing up to weight bearing for the other 5 weeks.

2. Well Sam,
Alot of this depends on the age of the patient, the type of replacement used.

It will also depend on the type of precedure preformed. Some folks get partials. IE: using alot of their own connective tissue as opposed to all synthetic.

I would advise you to ask the doctor however.

3. we are but i just wanted to hear from individuals, she is getting the total replacement , not the
new fancy partial one, her hip is really gone. they think they can do the procedure with 2 smaller incisions, from the back and side.

4. OH, I am sorry I misunderstood
I am an RN and have dealt with some post replacement patients in the past.

I can see say with conviction, that they will not let this person leave the hospital until he/she is able to move somewhat. Bathroom...etc.

Good luck!

5. Only advice I have is the more PT the better.
The more it is used, the faster ROM returns, and strength. Good luck.
