do i or don't i
it's 1am (granted not that late for a friday night) and my LOUD ass, rather redneck neighbors are blaring their music, vibrating my walls, and yelling and carrying on... (i live in lofts, so they're RIGHT on the other side of the wall)... i'm about at my wit's end and am about to scream!!!!!!! especially because i have a meeting to be at in the morning...

should i go over there and knock on the door and ask them to turn it down and be the party pooper and "mean neighbor", or should i suffer through the night?

1. Got any earplugs?
You might try a pre-emptive thumping of the wall before charging the beachead.

2. i do indeed
i have tried the earplugs in and the pillows over my head and i still hear the thumping...

it's probably my old college "RA" days, it's still in me to knock on doors and tell people to shut the hell up...

4. i know, i know
i'm really trying to be patient here... but i'm exhausted and their music is sooooooo loud... if they'd just turn it down some, maybe i could get some sleep... but at this rate i'll be up all night...

shrug, you're right... i should just suffer through it for a while... maybe they'll ware themselves out soon... lol

9. Call the police, and report them to apartment management
I used to be in favor of being nice, and asking neigbors first, before turning them in, but all that got me was a few bricks through the window, and slashed bicycle tires. This was back when I was a grad student.

Now, unless my neighbor pre-emptively tells me he cares if he's making too much noise, and invites me to let him know, I'll call the police when it becomes unreasonable. They don't know who complained, and with enough complaints, will eventually be evicted.

10. I've had the problem a couple of times
There is a stand of trees separating our properties but I couldn't hear anything with their music blasting. At 11 pm, I called and asked them nicely to turn it down. They did. Complete quiet within the hour. I guess the guests felt like the party was over.
With another neighbor during the day, I walked out on my porch and shouted to him: "Could you please turn that down? I can't hear myself think!" He looked shocked and turned it down.
I have decided they get at least one chance before I call the cops.
