Rock n Roll History/Radio Buffs- Alan Freed, 1954
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 04:53 PM by enigmatic
I know there's more than a few here; I just posted in my blog a link to the first 30 minutes of Alan Freed's "Moondog" program on WJW AM Cleveland in 1954 that's well worth the time to listen to:

5. I was afraid this was gonna be
part of the clip owned by www.reelradio.com, but it's not.

I think that one's from 1953, anyway.

GREAT stuff!

6. Wasn't that great?
I grew up in Cleveland and got to check out the WJW studios on E. 6th street when I was 11 through a friend of my mother's; I was in awe of the place.

I love reelradio.com, too; I was so bummed when it went pay...

7. Still a hell of a deal
All those memories for a small donation.

They have a compilation of ads, mostly for beer and soft drinks, from the early '50s through the '70s. Lasts a little more than an hour, and I swear I've never taken such a trip down memory lane. A couple of 'em actually bring tears to my eyes.

Then there's the KLIF (Dallas) coverage of JFK's assassination from before the shots to the official death announcement, and a redux "War of the Worlds" by a Buffalo station around 1973 that was very well done.
