Something is wrong. It's a Gap and it's white. I never wear skirts. NEVER!

I call it "pain and loneliness." I've gone through periods in my life where I've handled my misery with either drugs or alcohol. I have what's called an "addictive personality" although it's never interfered with real life until this past year.

I don't think I have a problem. My sprees are years apart and always prompted by catastrophe. Before this year, it was 1997, a decade ago, when I realized I wasn't in love with my husband. Then I'd watch sad movies and drink alone. Before that, it was one year of college.

However if I find myself still drinking twice a week when I'm employed and divorced and happy, then I'll reconsider.

Did that sound defensive?
