Crossbow arrow injures man during fight

PAYNE’S CREEK – A Payne’s Creek man was arrested after allegedly using a crossbow to fire an arrow at another Payne’s Creek man during a fist fight on Ruth Lane on Saturday night, Tehama County sheriff’s deputies said today.

Aaron David Nicol, 35, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly used a crossbow to shoot an arrow at James Jonathon Midgett, 21, at close range, wounding him on the right side of his abdomen, deputies said.

Midgett’s friends took him to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff before deputies arrived.
