What was the last band you saw live?
I just got back from a show tonight, so I thought I'd open up the can of worms.

Three different punk bands.

First on the bill, 9MM, local ska band, pretty cool but not mindbendingly incredible. Plays a standard warmup set and then calls it.

Next up, an Epitaph Records band called Motion City Soundtrack. Two guitars, a keyboard, a bass, and a perc. Complete with insane keyboard distortion, they put on a very solid set that was a lot of fun to listen to.

Third band, a Chicago act called Lucky Boys Confusion. Solid music, solid act, a lot of fun to watch. Moshing people push me into cute girl wearing an Alkaline Trio shirt. Vocalist, I note, is on crutches, because he "jumped off a fucking roof" and broke his leg. Lot of showmanship, very enjoyable performance.

Your turns, yo.

I've seen them a half dozen times or so since the mid 90's. The only time I heard they were playing but missed them, they aparently did a cover of "Rock Lobster" in a lobster suit as an encore. So naturally I can never miss them again.

cadallaca= corin tucker of s.k., sarah dougher (the crabs, the lookers, solo stuff), sts (the lookers, the haggard). they're outstanding: lots of awesome organ and great vocal play between corin 'n sarah.

And I also saw them at Forest Hills. But my friend has me beat, she saw them in the Star Club in Germany when she was 11 or 12, visiting some older cousins. I bow to her!
I was also in the audience when the Rolling Stones made their first appearance on Ed Sullivan.

83. I used to see Mission of Burma in high school
They were my favorite band-they broke up in '83, because Roger Miller suffered from Tinnitis (sp?)

They used to be one of the LOUDEST bands. I remember seeing them at the Inn Square Men's Bar, which was the size of my living room, and not being able to hear for two days. I saw MoB with Husker Du, X, The Gun Club, and many other great bands of the day.

I keep missing their reunions. Someone let me know when one happens again!

90. I think Victor is
doing his own tour. Go check out his web site. We saw his tour last year at this small place in Lawrence, Kansas. He had Reggie and JD Blair and a couple of rapper/bass players. My God. It was simply amazing. I had heard Reggie before on tape but never live. It was like being transported into another galaxy. The kicker was that they were opening for Blues Traveller. An incredible night of music. Unfortunately the sound was great for Victor but really crappy for Blues Traveller.

18. The Donnas, Rooney, The Strokes...
My daughter won tickets, and of course opted to bring a friend. I got stuck in parking and was waiting outside. The security guard took pity on me and let me in for free. Great concert. The Strokes had a great light guy.

My daughter is really into the ska/punk bands and supports the local as well as obscure, out of state bands. She even buys their CD's at the shows. I like that she's not putting more money in the pockets of the RIAA. She did take me to a small venue for Mother's Day to see 'The Lost Prophets' and 'Apex Theory' since I always joke about going to shows with her. I've never felt so old in my life seeing all those kids mosh and jump around.

76. Go to a lot of live music
Recently saw a couple great left-wing, anti-Bush bands from Austin, Tx that were here upstate NY recently -- Asylum Street Spankers and Guy Forsyth. If you have a chance, check them out. Two days ago I saw fiddle player Natalie MacMasterson from Canada. She was awesome. I'm not a country, fan, BTW, so if I like them they have to ge good.

Last Saturday, it was Surf Night at Station 58 in New London, Connecticut. The bands who performed were Fisherman, the Swiv-O-Matics, and the 9th Wave.

unless we're counting jazz night at the brewpub, but I don't think a weekly gig counts as a concert strictly speaking

84. OOPS DISREGARD MY PREVIOUS POST
I left my glasses at work and initially read BEST band instead of LAST band.

I guess that would be Aimee Mann in Dallas a few months ago, and Cold Play (sp?) in Grand Prarie.
