Poll question: Do you make your bed every day?
My mom always insisted and it stuck - I can't stand an unmade bed. The rest of my house can be a disaster area but I have to have a tidy bed.

3. I don't even make my room
when the bed does get made, it just stands out as the clean spot in the room.

On the other hand, I try to keep the living room neat. sorta.

4. I feel like a slob if I don't.
Plus, when you go to bed that night, it's like the bed is fresh.

When a friend found out that I make my bed, she said someone ought to marry me.

15.  Read this about making your bed every day!
From: How to Cheat at Cleaning by Jeff Bredenberg

The average bed can house as many as 1.5 million hideously ugly microscopic creatures called dust mites. These miniature monsters produce allergens that you breathe in while you sleep and this is a major cause of asthma and other illnesses. The mites thrive on the moisture in your bed covers and mattress. When you make the bed, you're sealing the moisture in - tucking the little dust mites in just the way they like it. However, when you leave the bed unmade all day, the moisture escapes and the dust mites die.

16. What counts as a made bed?
We pull the sheets and cover up and that's it. No tucking, no decorative throw pillows, no shams...However, I don't like crawling into a bed of day-old crumpled sheets!

18. That would count for me
Though not for my mother, who insisted that sheets must be re-tucked properly and bedspread tucked and rolled over pillows.

I simply smooth my sheets and blankets and fluff my pillows which go on top of the comforter. If it's really messy, I will re-tuck but not usually.

21. I haven't the faintest idea
It was one of the things drilled into me as a child and I cannot feel comfortable in an unmade bed. Funny what sticks. I don't mind dirty dishes in the sink or clutter but an unmade bed bugs the heck out of me.

23. "Drilled into me as a child" - how true,
I make the bed (like you, not to my mother's standards but it's made, and with an old fashioned bedspread because I like the look )and no dirty dishes in the sink at night Dust,on the other hand, should pay rent because of its lengthy tenure.

24. A bit anal in that department myself.
Couldn't care less if the boys have made their beds or not, but mine has to be made up or I can't stand it. My entire bedroom could be a disaster area, but if the bed is made it feels like a neat and tidy sanctuary.

I wouldn't even have top sheets if my gf didn't insist. I like to sleep with one, untucked blanket on a bottom sheet. My gf makes our bed occasionally, but evertime she has added blanket or sheets, I just sleep on top of the stack with my one blanket. I can't stand tucked in sheet...I get hot to easy, so all kinds of body parts are sticking out from under the blanket.

The most I'll do is straighten it out before I leave.

I make it when I get up in the morning.

I make it again when I get up from my nap in the afternoon.
