French train breaks speed record
A modified TGV travelling along a brand new line between Paris and Strasbourg (not yet open in service) managed an astonishing 357mph (575kmh).

2. That's insane!
:wow:

Wonder how they ensure that nothing crosses their path. Would be impossible to get out of the way by the time you saw it coming.

5. Yeah, I figured there weren't any crossings...
as it would take a lot to slow that thing down for a stop. But there MUST be a danger of animals (and assorted morons) jumping the fence.

4. That makes me really, really, queasy.
But imagine if you could travel from downtown Los Angeles to downtown San Francisco faster than you could fly.

7. Hello, my friend!
:hi:

At first glance I could have sworn your thread title was about French bread! It doesn't help that here in Richmond we have a local specialty known as billy bread.

10. I'm surprised that it doesn't twist a few brains, watching the scenery
go by that fast in the passenger cars (yeah, I know this is a test with no cars).
