SKITTLES HAD HER KITTENS YESTERDAY!
No pics yet, sorry.

She had four, and so far we think they are a tortie, like her, a tuxie, and two black & brown tabbies. It's hard to tell because she's wild and we can't get too close.

We've lost our electric blanket, though - it was in the closet in a laundry basket. I've been saying to my self for two weeks, "gotta put that away or she'll have her babies on it." :eyes: Too late!

I'll post pics as soon as I can get some.

18. Hi, Will!
I just moved them. It wasn't fun. She gave birth in a laundry basket, on a big blanket, but it was all bunched on one side so they were all squozed in on the other side. I wanted to wait a few days but earlier tonight I noticed that she hadn't even been able to clean herself up. :(

We bought a big dog bed for her today, and about an hour ago I went in there to move them. My god, she is true to her namesake! I wore leather gloves, and I'm glad I did. Now she has a lot more room to move around, and so do the babies.

9. Aww -- widdle babies!
:loveya:

Congrats! :toast:

Disclaimer: Yes, it's better to prevent more kittens in this world, and I know Bertha works hard toward that end, but if they are to be (from a feral kitty, for example), well, heck, nothing is more appealing on this planet.

You are so lucky to have kittens to play with, at least for a little while. I don't know which is cuter, a kitten or a puppy, but I love them both!

24. Yes, we are very lucky.
This is our fourth litter. The first one was on 9/11/01, and that was the first time I realized what love and joy and hope the animals we care for can give us. What an amazing experience this is.

30. Congratulations on the kittens
are you going to spay your cat anytime soon? This is not a personal attack, so please do not become defensive, I'm just wondering how easy/difficult it can be living with an animal that can go in heat a couple of times a year and how you work around that?

I really want to work with litters that are brought in from the streets and raise them till they are ready for adoption. There are just so, so many unwanted cats and dogs out there, who unfortunatly get put down from being unwanted, its tragic. We have two dogs and two cats, I wish I could have more so I figure taking care of litters is the next best thing. Whats awesome about the animal shelter here in Vegas is that NONE of the animals leave that shelter until they are spayed or neutered. I highly commend them for doing that.

32. Oh, absolutely, Priestess.
Skittles is semi-feral. She's lived in her house since she was 5 weeks old, but she has always been too darned wiley to catch. I believe I will be able to tame her just a little as we socialize her kittens. If not, I'll borrow gauntlets and maybe even a catch pole from the humane society.

Vegas is fantastic. So is our local humane society. www.alleycats.org has some excellent information about working with street (feral) cats. Good luck!
