PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A fight over children in a retirement clubhouse landed a 69-year-old woman in jail and a 78-year-old woman in the hospital suffering from a heart attack.
According to St. Lucie County Sheriff's records, Eleanor Brown faces a felony battery allegedly lunging at the 78-year-old victim and grabbing her by the throat Thursday at the clubhouse.
The victim, whose name was not released, told investigators she and some friends were playing cards when Brown and her grandchildren came in and started playing pool.
Someone complained that the children were not allowed in the clubhouse. Brown lunged at the victim and grabbed her throat.
Brown told investigators she got upset at the victim because she had gotten her grandchildren kicked out of the clubhouse.
Doctors are still running tests to determine if the heart attack was caused by the fight.
