Worst Star Wars Episode
Not a fanboy myself, but thought it would be a fun and difficult question. :D

2. I or II, take your pick.
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 10:29 PM by GaYellowDawg
They both completely sucked ass.

Edited to add: except for Darth Maul.

3. Episode II
Not quite sure I agree with "one of the worst movies ever"... there are a LOT of really bad movies. But it was still not good.

4. Comparatively, Episode II: Attack of the Clones
I like all of the movies, but I'd say that Episode II is my least favorite. A few too many intentionally emotional scenes that failed to deliver due to a total lack of subtlety in the writing (even for a Star Wars film). Also, except for the Yoda/Obi Wan/Anakin/Dooku fight, the action scenes were relatively jumbled and easily forgettable.

5. II
No question. The Ewoks sucked ass pretty hard, too, but not enough to make VI a bad episode.

6. Clearly Number 1, though it's a close match between it and 2
But I think Episode 1 is the clear, hands down, without a doubt worst one - and not just worst in the sense of "Oooh, they're all good, so hard to pick the worst one" but in the sense that Episode 1 is a goddamn abomination to the art of film AND to the Star Wars canon.

11. After viewing Clones again it's a much closer match than I remembered.

Those scenes with Annikan and Padme are some of the worst fucking movie moments I've ever seen.

Intolerable. Completely.

I'd still give Phantom Menace the edge, but it really is by a nose.

The one thing that Clones has that Phantom lacks is the "holy shit that was cool" moment when Yoda busts out the lightsaber to throw down. That makes the difference for me.

7. Any One with Hayden Christensen...
Can't believe they edited Jedi to put his no-talent mug in the last scene.

15. Now, now...
...if you've ever seen "Shattered Glass," you know the lad's got talent.

Honestly, though, most people can't tell the difference between poor acting and a poorly written role confounded by the world's clunkiest dialogue.

8. excepting the prequels
which all sucked compared to the originals, i would say Return of the Jedi. Maked the ewoks turn into wookies or something, and I would seriously elevate it.

9. EXACTLY!
Stormtroopers, the supposed elite of the galaxy, getting their asses whipped by vine-swinging, rock-throwing teddy bears?!? It was a complete suckfest ending.

"The Empire Strikes Back" had been completely kick-ass. Imperial Walkers. The asteroid field. Luke gets his hand chopped off by Darth Vader, who's badder than ever. Even Lando Colt45ian couldn't bring it down.

And "Jedi" started off promising, too. Yoda croaks. Luke's finally turned a little bit badass... but who couldn't whip a bunch of muppets on a barge? Those aliens blew (unlike the original cantina scene). But wait, there's a new Death Star! And the Emperor is completely evil! Could ROTJ kick ass? Then there's the speeder chase. Completely cool. Hopes were raised... and then dashed by the first fucking teddy bear. Now if it had been a bunch of Wookies, it could have been cool. But it wasn't. The deciding factor in the overthrow of evil was teddy bears. Fucking Lucas.

10. originally
it WAS wookies, I believe. Their home planet of Kashyyk hadn't been made up yet (God, I'm a nerd). But Lucas wanted something cuter. I'm almost suprised he didn't have them win by hugging the storm troopers until they gave up and pranced around the sylvan glen. Everything was cool, until RIGHT THEN.

When that fleet of star destoyers selected a new admiral.

25. Ewoks RUINED Jedi.
PERIOD.

Imagine this. You're a stormtrooper. The absolute elite of the galaxy. The best of the best of the best. Not only that, but you're one of the best stormtroopers - the cream of the crop of the best of the best of the best, selected to guard the shield on the Forest Moon from attacks by Rebel scum. You've been selected from billions, and if that's not enough, you're equipped with the latest in Imperial technology and covered head to toe with the best armor that an entire galaxy can supply. And what happens in the world of Lucas?

A 3 foot high teddy bear somehow manages to get past the sensor nets and the perimeter alarms, and throws a baseball sized rock at you, not even hard enough to dent your armor, and you go down like a nine-year-old nancy boy, dropping the high-powered blaster that could reduce said teddy bear to Ewok kibble on the way down. An Ewok! Defeating stormtrooper elite! It's the equivalent of Sam the hobbit's girlfriend slapping the Nazgul on the knee with a grass twig and watching them flee.

THAT is why the Ewoks RUINED Jedi. It removed all credibility from the villians. I went back and watched Episode IV and you know what? When Obi-Wan was examining the ruined jawa crawler and said something about only Imperial stormtroopers having that kind of precision firepower I laughed my ass off. If only the poor jawas had a rock-throwing teddy bear or two.

18. That time Alpha Centuri went apeshit at Proxima Centuri.
Over some stupid thing like it was trying to watch "The Americans" and Proxima kept on standing in the way.

I swear, those two are so childish. It's like they're still 3 billion years old - but at least they're orbiting galactic central point now. Although Alpha seems to be hanging about with that no-planets loser Beta Centuri a little too much.

:D

26. Phantom Menace, hands-down.
Here's how I'd rank them:

1. V-Empire- best in terms of action and storytelling.
2. IV-New Hope- Classic.
3. III- Revenge- Except for a couple vapid love scenes, this is the best of the prequel films. Ian McDiarmid stole the show. Oh, and it had Wookiees.
4. VI- Jedi- The redemption of Darth Vader makes up for the whole Ewok thing.
5. II-Clones- Boring political stuff, boring love scenes, but it had Fetts.
6. I- Phantom Menace- sucked. Probably the best lightsaber battle of the series, but that's about it.
