Poll question: Cat Trap Equipment (no flames, please)
Why no flames? Because most of you know I work with feral cats.

I need to choose a pole catcher, because some of these cats are impossible to trap.

I can trap the hard-to-catch cats on the enclosed porch, then approach with a great deal of caution and one of these things:

"cat grasper"

or

animal control pole

Your thoughts?

(What I really need is a drop trap, but I can't find one and wouldn't know the first thing about building one.)

1. Can I get one too?
Every night I have to get 3 1/2 cats downstairs, dragging them out from under beds, behind furniture and off the ceiling.

2. that probably works better than my usual method
which is food and cat nip, which actually works a lot, but only if they don't toally hate humans.

I have pretty good luck with being able to catch strays though - maybe they like my smell.

3. Okay, snicker.
I'd go for the one specifically designed for cats, myself.

4. For feral cats, I would go for the standard pole
I've seen way too many feral cats ooze through the smallest openings when in a panic, I don't think the grasper can get you enough "hold", not to mention the pistol grip might be a bit awkward when wrasslin with a feral. Please do take a training course in the use of the pole, though, you'll be safer and the cat will be safer. Many animal control programs can offer you training, either through a class or one-on-one if the officers are cool. Also check with your local humane society.
