Palatka, Florida
anyone been here? I know of a band (from Gainesville) named Palatka, which I knew was a town but I didn't know much about it. Then I saw these stats: http://www.city-data.com/city/Palatka-Florida.html

looks like a bit of a ghetto. median income's only $18k a year, and despite having a population of only 10k it had the 11th highest per capita crime rate on the site's top 100 lists. i'm wondering if this has to do with why they named themselves after it, but what's this place like exactly?

1. I Used To Buy Plants From The Wholesale Nurseries There
for my old interior plantscaping business. There wasn't much to it back then.

2. Palatka
Years ago I had frequent visits to Palatka, stopping there on the way to G'ville from St. Augustine. My sister lives there now. It was your basic north Florida paper mill town. Don't know if it has changed a lot. The azaleas are beautiful in the spring.
