The office building where I work is gently swaying back and forth.
And no, it's not an earthquake. We're having another EXTREMELY windy day in Los Angeles, and as one of the high rises in the city built on rollers (to better withstand earthquakes), it sways gently if the winds are strong enough and constant enough. You can even hear the building creaking rhythmically in quieter parts of the office.

Very strange, but not unpleasant, either.

2. Yeppers.
Tower on the right. I love these buildings--beautiful to look at, especially right at dusk, when it's halfway between light/dark. They were designed by the same architect who did the (now gone) World Trader Center towers.

3. aw, the memories, but yes from above i'm able to see where they could offer...
some aerodynamic function to this or that prevailing wind pattern...just so long as you're being rocked like a baby all is groovy :hi:

4. That used to be one of my accounts...
My company installed the fire and security system and had the maintenance contract on it.I spent most of my time in the Chief Enginner's office off the parking garage though. It's a gorgeous facility. I really miss LA.

5. You should see it since they've finished the big complex at 2000 Ave of the Stars
They tore down the ABC Entertainment complex--the new one's pretty, but creates a constant wind tunnel in the area between the buildings. CAA just moved in there, and the retail area in the first couple of floors is just starting to fill in.

I worked in 2029 from 2000-2004, moved away and just came back last fall and am now working at the adjacent tower at 2049 (so I missed all the heavy construction--thank goodness). I love, love, love these buildings.

I was horribly homesick for LA while I was away--much to my surprise--and I'm so enjoying being back.

6. It was early 90's for me when I had the account...
so I'm sure it's changed a lot. I moved from LA in 2002 and I still dream about moving back. I'll probably have to check out the retirement homes by that time though. :) LA's one of those places you either love or hate. I moved out with my sister in the late '80's. She hated it and moved back to IN after 6 months and I stayed 15 yrs.

7. If This Building Is Rocking...
don't bother knocking?

I guess they are safer to sway for earthquakes and all, but that would freak me out a bit

8. I hear ya, Shakespeare!

It's been very windy down here in OC, too.

Unfortunately, it's interfering with my DSL connection,
all the wires are dancing wildly outside in the gusts.

:hi:
