Edit: Note: The sad one is about what things are like in certain places in Australia. You may not get it! Or at least not get why it is sad. :)

Edit II: So as way of explanation, there are desolate communites in the Australian countryside whos poverty and boredom means people have turned, en masse, to basically soft drugs taken way too far. In this case, pot. Yeah, I know about it. Alcoholism is awful, and so is pot dependency. That's what that song reminds me of. :) It's exactly like what happens.

I don't think it's supposed to be about that though, but I can't remember.

I can't quite say I'm Atheist (well until lately..) but a religious song is what gets to me the most, it like touches my soul or whatever.
Like some classical songs do too, they're even more beautiful after 4or 500 years.
