My grandparents had a house on Long Beach Island and I spent many a happy hour watching the waves as a kid.

Nice pictures Peggy!

They're all great. I was contemplating driving to the coast for some sunrise shots, but it's gotten pretty messy here, with the snow - so I'll just look at the Pacific instead of the Atlantic :hi:

24. Ohio is beautiful.
I've been all over the state, and the wildlife here is awesome.

There's also amazing fishing up on the Great Lakes. Hurry up summer!!

One summer, for our anniversary, we camped down at Tar Hollow near Chillicothe. Our camping spot was right off the lake so we could see the light from the night fishermen's boats. And the coolest thing was they were running the show "Tecumseh" at the amphitheater nearby, so we could hear the Indian drums echoing through the night sky. It was so great.

Thanks for reminding me of that. It was a great weekend despite waking up to everything covered in dew and soaking wet.

30. My favorite is the third one
I love seeing the shore on the horizon line.

We used to live about 10 mile inland on the NC coast. We drove up the coast to a beach called Emerald Isle just about every Sunday. My grown up boys were just babies, then.

I miss the coast and the roar of the ocean. There really is nothing like it. The salty residue that remains on your skin long after you've left, the sounds of the sea birds, and the tangled mess of hair -- all wonderful memories for me. My second son, maybe he was 18 - 24 months at the time, would dig in the sand for hermit crabs. Once we were on our way back home, he was fast asleep in his car seat, when we noticed that he was double fisted, holding two of those crustaceans tightly in his little toddler hands.

Thanks for sharing a little of your world, and taking me down memory lane.

The horizon line was accidental! And it's a wee bit crooked too...

But the wind was so strong that I had trouble holding the camera steady!

I was hungry for the coast and the roar of the ocean too...

It's been awhile since I walked on my Pier...

I love your story! Thank you for your trip down memory lane, sweetie...

I just finished brushing the last of the tangles out of my hair!

Thank you for your compliments as well...

You really captured the turbulence of the water
and the direction of the winds.

Wow- you're not kidding about strong winds!
All my lawn chairs were airborne at some point, yesterday.
I think the winds were clocked at 40 mph. in some areas.

I'm going to get down to the beach this weekend.
We've had very high surf and strong currents, so I'm
staying on the sand.

But it sure is beautiful.

57. My dear hfojvt!
Huh? Dave?

You've lost me!

Kansas is rather land-locked...

Thanks for coming by!

65. DUer named Dave
DavetheWave actually. Not a prolific poster, hasn't started a thread in a while, but I had some fun searching for him, found Forrest talking about me in his journal and discovered the possibly mysterious disappearance of Foxmulder.

Don't mind me though, I am just babbling in code. Inside jokes, as it were.

But no beaches. La Porte and Galveston (the closest ones) don't really count. Brown water....yech

69. You know, I didn't really notice.......
The wind was blowing so damn hard, I could hardly think of anything except how to hold the camera level...

And my hair was in knots!

Thanks for looking!

Hope you enjoyed them........

73. They are beautiful pics
but it looks like taking them could have been dangerous - especially #6. It looks like you were standing in the water or on a jetty maybe? Scary. I'm sure you must have heard about the couple that got swept off the rocks in Corona del Mar the other day. Please be careful, CaliforniaPeggy.

75. Ah, not to worry, my dear dancingAlone!
I did indeed hear about that couple...

And where I was standing was very safe!

I was standing at the very end of the Manhattan Beach Pier.......

Far far above the stormy seas!

Not dangerous at all........

But I thank you for your concern, sweetie.......

I have much to do yet in my life....

I would not even think of putting myself in harm's way... :pals:

Glad you enjoyed the pictures....and now that you know I wasn't in any danger, perhaps you can enjoy them even more!

78. My dear Left Brain...
I haven't been up there in some years...

But I have seen some of it.....Cannon Beach, for instance...

I have some good friends who are getting ready to retire in Ashland...

And I expect to visit them after they're gone...

Is this the answer you're looking for?

:hi:

80. haha!!
You betcha!
We used to have a little place in Seaside, but our favorite spot on the Oregon Coast is Depoe Bay.

Nothing quite as soothing as watching the ocean waves. Thanks for sharing the pics.

This is a metaphor for the Dems in 2008 if we keep up the pressure and messages.

Beau pics!

89. My dear barb162!
I really have no idea....

There weren't any surfers out here, for scale purposes....

I don't think they were terribly high...

But the force they came in with.....awesome!

Glad you liked them!
