The Navy woke me up

We have an annual event here called Seafair, and the Navy Blue Angles and ships are in town. I don't know if it was the Angles performing or practicing, or if I'm mistaken and it's just a regular jet and I'm unfairly assuming it's the Navy but they are loud, and I'm not even downtown. I was on Capitol Hill (the gay neighborhood) yesterday and there were sailors around, and it took all my efforts not to go "hey sailor" at any of them. But I did salute the officers, I don't know if that's not appropriate for a civilian, but what the hell, I love those guys.

I used to work at a coffee cart in front of the ice cream place by the market. A GREAT place to live and work. Bringing back memories, and a tear in my eye.

2. Saluting

This is a good question. I know from my time in the Naval service (USMC) that you never salute indoors unless you are under arms. (packin heat) You also only salute out of doors if you are wearing your cover (hat).
Never heard anything about civilians saluting. I guess if they wink back at you, they appreciated it.
