3. I found $20 in the pocket of a skirt at thrift store. It more than covered the price
of the skirt and everything else I bought. That was an awesome day.

4. $20 on a seat in an empty NYC Transit subway car.

:)

Another, not entirely "found" was when I stuck my hand in the pocket of my winter jacket (that for some reason hadn't gone to the cleaners from the prior winter) and came upon another $20.

Both many years ago, when for me, $20 was serious money. Oddly enough, now with my reduced circumstances, it is serious money again, but I haven't found more than pocket change since.

6. Just $5 crumpled up on the ground
Even better was when DH and I were flat broke and found a $20 bill in his old biking fannypack. That was MAJOR for us--I just about cried tears of joy.

My mom found several hundred outside a mall once. No identification whatsoever--no way to find the owner. I don't remember if she turned it in to security or kept it.

Congrats on your find, BTW! :hi:

I just found a twenty dollar bill, myself, a couple weeks ago. It was very cool! That's the most, ever.

13. $50.00
A co-worker and I both spotted a $50.00 bill at the same time on the sidewalk in front of our office building. I let her keep it. She needed it much more than I did. Her husband had just lost his job and yada yada yada........

My good deed for that day I guess.

Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 06:20 PM by pitohui
i do not understand the logic of turning money into security, that is stupid, money cannot be described and IDed, so you are not returning the money to the original person who lost it, you are just spitting in the face of the universe that tried to offer you some no-strings-attached money, and i guess making the security guard's day!

money in a wallet including ID is different, the person can be contacted and their property returned to them

15. $7,500
Hidden in the wall of a bank that was getting remodeled. A teller accidentally left her cash drawer out over the weekend and someone found it. they took about $5,000 and hid the rest in the wall to come back and get later. They caught the guy who took it, unfortunately the teller lost her job.

16. $350 on the floor of where I worked back in 1971...I turned it into my boss
He was flabberghasted and said that HE would not have turned it in.
When two weeks passed and nobody had claimed it, he shocked the sh** out of me by giving it back to me.
He had a ton of respect for me after that, and I for him...for letting me have the money.

17. Fifty Bucks
It was just laying on the ground outside of a liquor store. If I had gone into the store and asked if anyone had lost a fifty dollar bill, I'm pretty sure every customer in there would have claimed to be the one to have dropped it. So I kept it.

18. $420
On the sidewalk in front of my house. I kept an ear out for any of my neighbors that might have lost it but otherwise kept a very low profile with it as I'm pretty sure it was drug money.

last week. Hey, if my husband doesn't clean out his pockets before he puts his pants in the hamper, he has no one to blame but himself.

24. I have found $100 twice, both when badly needed as well
the first time was when I was a completely broke self-supporing college student - like not being able to afford to do my laundry or eat - and waiting on my paycheck which was late. I was kinda pissed and went and grabbed a cup of cheap coffee, and was berating myself for spending the dollar the whole time. Meanwhile I look over and see what looks like a dollar on the street next to a trash can. I waited a second, then went over and picked it up while throwing out my cup, and put it in my pocket without even looking at it. When I got back to work it was 5 $20's and I went to the grocery and the laundromat.

The second time was not as dire, but I was fairly strapped and my in-laws took my wife and I out to lunch and I found a hundred bill in the seat.

25. 112 money clip then cops stole it
turned it into the deputy sheriff since my sister in law(cop in another town) knew the guy who was on duty. I thought there was something fishy when he was driving away shoving it in his breast pocket and laughing. When I called after the 60 days the guy denied ever receiving it and my sister in law didn't want to say anything. Bastard!
