I am a fantastic mother
Dropkid just informed me that she broke my boombox the day before yesterday by trying to pick it up and move it after I had expressly forbidden her to do just that. The one and only xmas present I got this year.

I did not blow a gasket. I kept calm and quietly informed her that she was grounded an extra 3 days, with no TV allowed.

I am so frustrated I am spitting out my own teeth. We have had a really rough week, she has been acting out very badly, and I am nearly at my wits end.

1. how old is Dropkid?
old enough to work off some debt? I've been really lame making real consequences and following through, even when I know that's what is called for. Good luck

2. She's 6, though I'd love to send her to the coal mine
I'm not sure if the behavior is just a phase or a reaction to being cooped up inside again after having about a week of nice play outside weather. I've gotten a lot tougher lately on my follow through because she started making comments like "I know I'll be ungrounded early" :eyes: Kind of a kick in the pants!

3. I don't think you over-reacted
I remember over-reacting when my son was about that age and he touched something of mine and ruined it. I mean, I really over-reacted.

You were calm, but you showed her their were consequences. She'll remember the consequences, and she'll remember that you didn't blow your stack.

4. That's what I do more often than not
But I've been really working hard to try and cut down on the stack-blowing. It was REALLY hard to keep calm, I'm amazed I managed it.

5. I've had weeks like that.
Many.
You ARE a good Mom; you handled it well, and that will pay off in the long run.

Hugs from another member of the Motherhood club!
Oh, and chill with a beer or nice beverage after she goes to bed, tonight; you deserve it!
