Did you see trouble on the horizon and chose to relocate to get away from that possibility?
I did in 1976 after many drug arrests and a family that was mobbed up and wanted me to work for them.
All my friends were dealing massive amounts of coke and heroin. Most of them are dead now. My Sicilian uncles wanted me to drive a truck from NH to Providence twice a week delivering boxes that I was not to ask questions about. I'd take the panel truck to a dilapitated Providence warehouse where some big goombahs would meet me, give me a $20.00 bill and tell me "Go get some fuckin lunch and come back in an hour". Did that for a month and got really scared. Soon after that I left MA for FL, then CA, where I have been since 1980.
Anyone else have to flee their hometown to keep safe and out of trouble?

5. During the Viet Nam war that was very common.
Many of my "bad boy" friends that got in scrapes with the law were given a choice by the judge. Either enlist or go to jail.
