Anybody ever use "Best Offer" on eBay?
I was looking at some items I liked on eBay that had no bids on them at this time. I thought the starting price was a bit high, and the "Buy It Now" price also too high for my taste. (not outrageous or anything, just more than I want to pay)

However, these auctions also have a "Best Offer" button on them, which I had not seen before.

The seller is reputable - over 99% positive feeback - but, they often have items they don't sell at all. So, I was thinking of putting in an offer on an item that was a bit more in line with what I wanted to pay.

i.e, if the starting price is $100 and the Buy It Now is $130, I was thinking of putting in a "Best Offer" of $80.

1. I've used it before, and it worked out fine.
I think the item I used it on had a Buy It Now of $35 and I put in a Best Offer of $20. I got it no problem.

4. He's doin' okay.
Thanks for asking. He seems quite happy that the sun is finally out. He wouldn't budge from his bed by the window this morning :)

5. I've done that, a couple of times
I got the items (one of them was something which had been posted twice before, at progressively-lower starting values because there hadn't been any bids). No regrets -- and I've bought other things on eBay that turned out to be clunkers (and luckily, was able to avoid bidding for many more, because the prices were too high or the things just didn't look good at any amount).

You don't have anything to lose by submitting a "Best Offer" -- in fact, if the seller does not specify that you can only make one of them, you could even suggest $75 if you think it might work out -- then submit a higher one later, if there's enough time.
