My parents weighted me as a child.
They were convinced gravity on Earth was going to rapidly and suddenly decrease, and to prevent me from floating away, they fashioned thirty-pound ankle and wrists weights that I wore 21 hours a day.

My posture still suffers, five years after abandoning the practice.
