The wireless industry has been trying in vain for years to get people to stop using the term "Cell phone" - Cells don't really exist in their old form anymore. Oh well.

I will always call it my cell. =)

What is it about people with cell phones, anyway? They can't just answer the damn things. First, they have selected the most annoying "ring" possible and set it to a deafening volume, and then when someone calls they pick it up and stare at it as it rings and rings and rings. I work in an office where almost everyone has a cell phone, and some of them have two. There's no end to the stupid midi songs bleating at top volume. And all the people stare at their damn phones until the last ring, wondering if they should take the call! AGH! I've started throwing objects at them.

And you can't carry on a conversation with these people, because no matter where you are or what you're doing, the damn phone rings and it takes precedence over everything else. Their house could be on fire and as you're helping them extinguish the flames, the phone rings and they put down the water hose and stare at the phone. "Hello?"

I do not answer my phone...I hit *69...and if I feel like talking I call them....otherwise get over it.....I have no answering machine...I HATE phones....why should someone have the ability to interrupt what ever you are doing...at any time day or night?? Did I mention I hate telephones?

Maybe some day, but not now...though there are times where it would have come in "handy" (that's what the Germans call them), but, just as I resisted getting a computer for so long...
I have seen so many times and not only in this country...people just being so pretentious with their cell phones...that is one of the reasons why I have resisted it for so long. It's like, now it's so common, why even pretend that you are rich by having one?? When I lived in LA, it seems that everyone wanted some pretension of being on the "upside" ...It's like it doesn't matter who you are, just what you can show you have. The only time I really could use a cell phone would be if I was broken down by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere...and probably, I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it anyway

Freedom from the fascist billing practices of Qwest, the local phone pseudo-monopoly.

And even Freedom from the annoying people who can no longer determine whether I'm at home or not by whether or not I pick up the phone.
