Where the heck is pawpicker?
Did he get killed by lightning? Has he been captured by spies and taken to a dark place for interrogation? I'm worried.

1. The storm may have him off the computer.
There is some really bad weather where he lives.

2. Good point... I didn't even think of that.
I guess I won't panic unless we don't hear from him for a couple of days.

4. We are getting the start of the storm here.
I don't know how much wind or rain we will get, the storm will hit around 11 to midnight.

I cut the grass today so the ditches will flow nicely.

I hope we don't get to much rain.

6. You cut your grass?
I envy you having grass that's grown enough to be cut. Here in Maine we are expecting rain starting on Friday and continuing for several days. No grass cutting required, dammit. I'm still waiting for leaves.

7. This will be my 3rd time cutting the grass.
The first and second time I cut weeds mostly.

We get a lot of spring weeds that die out when it gets hot.

I like cutting grass, I can drink a cold beer afterwards.

12. I know, summer is coming.
I don't mind cutting grass now but in July and August I need to drink 2 beers afterwards.

21. LOL I"ve been talking to my dad
and then answering some email and PM's

and then came on DU and saw this thread and thought it was funny/sweet, etc.

It rained, thundered, and we had a lot of lightning, but nothing even close to severe limits here, just enough to cancel soccer after we all got to the field.

how are you TW?

raining down your way? Mom doing okay?

24. The wind and rain is coming.
My Mother is in the rehap hospital, learning how to walk.

She is doing OK.

After the rehab she will come back here for a month and then back to her old place because she can walk again.

She may have a few other medical problems, but nothing to bad.

She will need to be someplace with a medical staff, but her old place has that.

She has a few good years ahead now.

27. That's great!
it's amazing what they can do nowadays with knee replacements and rehab.

I know you aren't close to her, but maybe this is some kind of opportunity to bring you two to a better place?

the wind and rain are finally leaving here, just leaving behind a cool breeze.

30. I don't know how close we will get.
She wasn't around much when I was little, my Aunt raised me.

She isn't close to my sister or two brothers either.

We will see how things go.

Sometimes families are not close, I have made my own.

I had a great childhood, I can't complain.

32. Yeah, it may not be even about becoming "close"
there may be just the chance to deal with any issues that might be there, or to clear the air. I don't know. I only hope for the best for you as you deal with her.

I am glad you had a great childhood because you are just great yourself!

33. I had it easy.
My Aunt took me home from the hospital.

My brothers and sisters were several years older when my parents split, they have a lot issues to deal with.

I will take whatever my mother willing to give.

Now my sister and brothers, they are a different story.

Thanks for asking about my mother. :loveya:

39. I forgot about this story.
I always liked this one.

The Lion and the Mouse
An Aesop Fable retold by Rose Owens

A lion was sleeping one day. A small mouse ran up and down upon him. The lion woke up and pinned the mouse beneath his paw.

“Oh please, lion,” pleaded the mouse. “I am sorry I disturbed you. Please forgive me this one time. I may be small but someday I may be able to help you.”

The lion laughed. How could a little mouse hope to help a strong animal like him? But he lifted his paw and let the mouse go.

Some time later the lion was walking through the forest and walked into a hunter’s trap. Try as he might, he could not free himself from the rope net. Just then the little mouse happened by and saw the lion. He wasted no time but set about knowing the ropes of the net and the lion was soon free. “Was I not right?” said the little mouse.

Little friends may prove to be great friends.
