6. So that's Fred Phelps. Crazy.
I've seen his hate mobiles and hateful family "protestors" in person, but I have never seen him. I understand that Phelps is a hateful cult leader, but he is full of crazy. Like a living Chick tract.

5. Phelps is an attention-whore....
Ditto on his wife.

I don't think they actually have much of a following. Most of the attention they get is from making outrageous statements.

Counter-protesting them at funerals is a good idea, otherwise they should be ignored. (I can see Phelps writhing in pain at having no one react to him.)

Even Fox news reported that 5,000 counter-protesters turned out against Phelps:

One one hand, it's nice to see him creating solidarity among different groups of people who all agree that his actions are FUBAR. On the other hand, I'm not sure that a hateful nutcase deserves so much attention.

I find the sophisticated hatefulness of BushCo a lot more disturbing. They seem to get away with it. :crazy:

I've heard similar sermons from preachers (without all the references to sodomy, though), so I could see that some could buy what he's selling.

Jerk. Using hate and the Bible to get attention and power over a few followers, that's just crazy and sad. This is the kind of guy I sometimes wish Jesus would come back just to smack upside the head.
