I've just recently begun to enjoy some smooth and light piano jazz, and want to get some suggestions on who I should look into.
I've been a classical music fan for quite some time, and always enjoy good instrumental work anyhow, so making the leap to jazz wasn't a huge one. (I adore some of the New Age composers, with David Lanz and Andreas Vollenweider among my favorites) I've got some Kenny G (yeah, I know, I know!), but I've been getting some Louis Armstrong, some Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald and Wynton Marsalis among others to listen to, though as I said, I prefer just some nice instrumental mainly right now to have as concentration type music. I know some generic pieces, though I suppose there is a lot more for me to learn.
Piano bar stuff would be okay, but something with some heart would be a little more personal--piano bar music tends to be a little bit TOO fluffy. Some sax would be good, and some horns for accompaniment....
Am I asking too much for a few leads on who to check out? Thank you to all who can give me some thoughtful suggestions!
