Just when you think it's the students that are totally screwed up
My officemate just got the exam her boss is giving to his students. There's work to be done on it for sure. It has to be formatted to the official exam template, there's a copyrighted article that she needs to get permission from the publisher to post. The answer template needs to be set up, and the exam guidelines have to be posted.

That exam is supposed to happen tomorrow.

Yes, it's only an hour away from quitting time here.

I guess the students are learning EXACTLY what's being taught here.

And we're one of the top 3 Business Schools in the country.

1. Most important lesson they can learn
Have very good assistants who can perform miracles on a tight deadline.

3. the deadline wasn't tight. The Prof has known for WEEKS that this was coming.
I'm sorry, but as good as an assistant can be, they are often limited by the departments they rely on... for instance in this case the document services department who has to get permission to post this article. What happens when 20 to 30 professors all decide to wait until the last minute?

This is poor time management, plain and simple. On top of that, it's rude for this Professor to expect that everyone involved is going to drop everything because he can't get his act together.

Waiting until the very last minute means not only do you not value your assistant's ability to manage his/her job, but you don't value the people s/he is going to have to rely on to "perform miracles".

2. Ugh
Pretty sure NYU doesn't even ask for permission to use text on tests half the time...
