http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070430/LIFE/304300045"It’s a boy – an 86-pound bundle of joy for Emi, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden’s 19-year-old Sumatran rhino. The Cincinnati Enquirer learned that she delivered at 10:59 p.m. Sunday after a 479-day gestation. The baby was on his feet by 11:28 p.m. and nursing by 1:33 a.m. He’s now nursing every 15-30 minutes. Both mother and baby are doing well
The baby is Emi’s third and a world record – no other Sumatran has ever bred three times in captivity. The birth of her first calf – Andalas in 2001 – was the first Sumatran born in captivity in 112 years. Ipuh, the father of all three calves, is the only successful sire in captivity. The zoo captured the birth on video."
Its a cute little ugly thing.. :).. Cincinnati can be pretty backwards at times but we do have a kickass zoo.. I cant wait to go see it in a couple weeks.
