Edited on Wed May-02-07 01:40 PM by swag
finally paid off today. The trivia question at the soup-cart was, "What is the literal translation of 'Hippopotamus.'"

I was awarded free lunch for being the first to correctly answer.

7. I was on a full-ride scholarship, with enough left over for dope.
But point well taken, Mr. Chairman.

6. My dear swag...
When my husband and I were newlyweds, we "took" Greek at Stanford University, where my husband was a graduate student...

We audited the class...

But we gave up right after we heard about verbs!

One exchange really tells the story: The student asked, why don't you just give us the infinitive? To which the professor responded: Which one would you like? There are six of them!

We dropped out shortly after this!

And we never looked back...

9. Great story.
I still remember some verb declensions, only a very few, though.

What a beautiful campus there in Palo Alto, though. I was only there once.

13. Had to look that one up, and I'll I got was this definition:
a fast-growing Chinese and Japanese climbing vine, Pueraria lobata, of the legume family, now widespread in the southern U.S., having tuberous, starchy roots and stems: used for fiber, as food and forage, and to prevent soil erosion.

Also called kudzu.
