Whazzup with my heater/AC? Loud clacking noises. WTF?
If you know anything about this, please post...

Whenever I turn on my heater or A/C lately, there's a persistent loud clacking noise (like a fan that's hitting something) that echoes through the vents. What the hell? I need to take care of this before Texas turns into Hell On Earth this summer!

2. Call someone that can fix it...
Open wallet.

You think you know the problem but it doesn't really sound like you want to fix it yourself. If you do want to fix it start with finding the fans. You might fuck things up more and have to pay more to fix what you break.

Seriously, if you have to ask this on the Internet you should call a pro.

5. Well, I've had plenty of "pros" try to con me in the past. Thought
I'd get some pre-emptive feedback here first for educational purposes.

3. here...
You should have a way to remove/inspect the fan assembly from the unit. I would start there. If your filter slides in the bottom, the whole section above that has the coils and your fan. Probably 4-6 screws hold a metal plate on the unit directly above where the filter goes. Remove that, and you should see the squirrel cage (has the fan)

If you get that much removed, make sure the filter is in and let it run for a second to see if that is where the noise is coming from...

This link might help..
