Sam Moss is dead.
I realize that name means nothing to most of the Lounge but trust me, he was a brilliant musician who left this world too soon.
He was the godfather of the Winston-Salem music scene, the mentor for Chris Stamey, Peter Holsapple, Mitch Easter, et al, the guys that inspired REM who inspired most of the decent music that's come out in the past 20 years.
If you were ever lucky enough to watch Sam on stage consider yourself lucky, the man was the real deal, a living breathing rock God in an age of posers.
I'm too stunned to say much more about it. I still don't know many details, just a blurb in the paper that his body was found in his home yesterday.
Raise a glass and listen to some loud rock music for Sam, and make sure your loved ones know how much you love them because you never know when your time will come.
