I'm on a Margaret Rutherford-a-thon!

Watched The VIP's, the movie she won her Oscar for. She really was the best thing in this, but that's not saying much. Still, I think it was more an Oscar for all her work, not this particular movie. If anyone wants to see Maggie Smith looking very, very young--rent this.

Then I watched The Smallest Show on Earth--she'll crack you up in this one. The stars, however, are Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, pre-Born Free fame. I wonder what happened to them.

Finally it was The Mouse on the Moon--she has top billing, but her role is so small it's almost a cameo. Not sure if I liked this or not.

1. watch the ones where she plays Miss Marple

you have to forget having read Agatha Christie's Miss Marple books, because she is not that quiet, retiring little old lady

get past that, and the movies are GREAT

Yeah, the movies are One-derful! She is very different from the Miss Marple in the books, and that's a good thing! In the books she's almost an after-thought, but in the movies it's all about her!
