16 yrs ago I was flying home to watch my mother die.
The call came the night before, sibling called "don't think she'll make it through the night." I asked for phone to held to her ear since she was on heavy pain meds (cancer in pleural cavity) and told her I was coming as fast as I could, would be there the next evening and if something happened in the meantime, that I loved her. She muttered "thanks" to the astonishment of sibling who said she was basically unconscious from meds. She waited for the whole family to arrive, went into coma about an hour later, died tomorrow morning. 16 yrs ago.

RIP Mom, I miss you very much.

To mothers everywhere, thank you. With love, UP

3. And this morning, 16 yrs ago, she died.
It gets easier, but it doesn't go away. I cannot imagine feeling this way about my child.

4. April 29th was the 22 anniversary of my mon's death.
she dies at home and thank god for in home hospice care, they made her last 2 months bearable for and quite frankly for me. I still remember everything about that morning including how the room smelled, weird all these years later and it's the smell that stays with me.

Love ya UP

5. I hate the night of May8, know I will do the death scene and not be able to sleep
It is something I never wanted to do, but am very glad I did not miss. Smell memory is stored in our reptilian brain bit, most basic brain bit, many yrs later a smell can evoke memories, emotions. It is odd. Hugs to you too.

6. It'll be 10 years on July 10 that my mom died
In one sense, I can't believe it's been that long; in another, it feels so very long ago, like 20 or 30 years.

It was in the summer, in between semesters, and I looked after her for the 3.5 months until her death from pancreatic cancer. It was fairly quick, but she suffered tremendously.

Many  to you, uppityperson.
