Poll question: What's your opinion of Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream ice cream?
I realize it's still hard to find for some folks, but if you managed to score some of this Ben & Jerry flavor, what do you think?

1. I think it's nasty.
Edited on Tue May-08-07 10:01 PM by philosophie_en_rose
I fully expected Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream to be tasty and entertaining like Stephen Colbert, yet it was bland and unpleasant like Alan Colmes. The waffle cone pieces taste as stale as O'Reilly's outrage and the ice cream as flavorless as a Young Republican conclave. The chocolate was likewise substandard.

My only thought is that Colbert was abstaining from sweets during Lent, so couldn't taste that goop before it sold.

In other news, Willie Nelson peach cobbler is delicious. :9

3. Try Albertsons.
Ben & Jerry's website will do a "locator" search for you and tell you where they're selling certain flavors. I found them both at Albertsons near me, so it might be in an Albertsons near you.

I would seriously not bother with the Americone Dream. It is not even close to tasty.

13. the Willie Nelson peach cobbler flavor is great -- add a few
walnuts or pecans if you like nuts -- makes it even better! The pieces of crust in the cobbler ice cream are fantastic.

5. I found the flavor surprisingly delightful
I'll admit that when I took my first bite, I was a little underwhelmed. Tasted fine, yes, but there was no pizazz. But the flavor of American Dream slowly grew on me.

When I finally found another pint, I took a bite and was hooked. I think the ingredients in my first batch might not have been mixed optimally or something.

I won't say that it's my favorite flavor, but it's most definitely a good 'un. Hope it outlives the initial hype and stays around a while.

6. Nation!
I enjoyed it. Not my favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor, but a fine addition to their line-up!

I am still looking for the Willie Nelson 'Peach Cobbler' flavor.

8. I've got it in the freezer, but haven't tried it yet
If you've got a 7-Eleven convenience store in your neck of the woods, check out their freezer section. That's where I found mine.

9. I've already checked out 3 Albertson's
I found Americone Dream at one of them, and posted about it a few weeks ago... since then, my searches for Peach Cobbler have been fruitless (badaBoom!).

I will check out 7-11... I live near a few of those too. :-)

17. It's ok but it's no Vermonty Python
I've never heard of the Willie Nelson peach cobbler, I'll have to hunt for that. I've found, by the way, that grocery stores are generally very willing to order special requests, especially if they already carry the brand.
