1. Elliot broke the guy down
The capt. called Elliot out of the interrogation, bc they had enough on him to charge him...but instead, Elliot put chairs under the door knobs and got the guy to admit that he had given his kids sleeping pills and then shot them. At one point he got him into a headlock to break the guy's neck, but he ended up walking away instead.

5. I hope they are not setting the character up
to be written off. It kind of seemed that way last night.

7. Nah
SVU will probably be the only L&O left standing, and it is basically the Meloni/Hargitay show.

Don't get me wrong I haven't heard any rumours or anything, so you're probably right.

9. Sad but true
I really like Criminal Intent as long as they feature D'Onofrio and Erbe. The Chris Noth ones are not as engaging.

11. I don't care all that much
for D'Onofrio myself. He's like this super agressive Columbo to me, and I couldn't stand Columbo! I like Kathryn Erbe--first time I saw her was when she did "Stir of Echoes" and I was happy that she was capable and supportive at the same time.

17. Pretty much.
Did you notice that they changed the date/time of L&O:CI, two weeks before the end of the season, during sweeps? Never a good sign. And there are rumors that L&O might be going to cable.

12. I think it's because of the Emmies
The Academy likes "over-the-top" performances because they showcase a talent, and since Mariska got her Emmy last year, I think they're trying to get Meloni set up for a better chance at getting one. Plus I'm not sure when sweeps are coming, but the end of the season is nigh, and most shows (if they've been guaranteed renewal) end their seasons on cliff-hangers in order to guarantee good ratings when they start the new season.

Meloni just signed a 2 year contract. As did Mariska Hargitay.

18. Ah well, that is good news.
I've always been a fan of this show (as well as L&O, at least back in the Jerry Orbach days)

19. Hahaha, so true.
There was so much hype about last night's butt-shot, but after watching Oz, it was a total let-down. My roomie and I were thinking, "Please, Chris...we've seen, um...everything. A bit of crack is so lame."

After watching him on Oz that was nothing.

There is nothing left that could surprise me. Ok, maybe beastiality but that's about it.

during the entire interrogation? Shouldn't she have been there too? Instead, she saunters in at the end in with a Starbucks and a new outfit.

If, for not anything else, I'll watch SVU because of Chris Meloni. I also loved him in "Oz".

But it needed more Munch.

Belzer and Ice-T are a great duo!

13. I agree!
We haven't been seeing enough of them the second part of the season at all. But I'm glad that they have had a couple of episodes which featured them individually. I think the major thing about last night's episode is Eliot's struggle to decide whether he's going back to his family or not. I hope the character does, but at the same time, the issues they had with their marriage have not changed--the character is so focused on his job and responsibilities with that job that he will still be placing them second. But that's the stuff of good drama!

Regarding the original L&O, the show has weathered cast changes continuously, and it's still alive after 17 years! I worked briefly for the show in its first season for Joe Stern, and he was in L.A. on a break from the series while they waited for the go ahead with the back 9 episodes. How far they have come from those early days!

14. There was an early season shortly after Tutuola arrived
when he and Munch were in it a lot more. (Munch even had at least one episode mostly to himself, iirc.) I miss that. :(

22. I recorded it to watch later (it's opposite 'Boston Legal' which I LOVE)
Nice to see that they veered away, at least this week, from it being Law & Order: Detective Benson Unit. I haven't watched it much at all this season because I get that Hargitay won an Emmy for her role last season, but she's not the only character on the show.

27. based on the few episodes of SVU I have seen, I can venture a guess
the overzealous prosecutors, after potentially violating the suspect's rights in interrogation, may have gotten some aspects of the case right but also got a few details terribly wrong in their intense desire to put someone in jail for life. Then, in the last ten minutes, in the courtroom, we saw details of the trial and of the crime, but the show ended just before a verdict or any kind of real resolution was announced.
