Baby's bizarre 'bite' of passage with cobra(GRAPHIC PICTURE)

A one-year-old is forced to fight a neutered cobra during a shocking snake-charming rite of passage in India.

The baby tries to protect itslef while being repeatedly hit by the animal, which has also had its mouth stitched up and its fangs removed.

This bizarre spectator sport - reportedly from Kasimkota in Andhra Pradesh - has been condemned by animal rights protesters after footage appeared on the internet.

9. I thought the same thing. Doesn't this teach kids that cobras are harmless?
And, especially in a country in which cobras are found in the wild, isn't that, you know, a spectacularly stupid thing to teach a kid?

11. Cultural differences in potty training, I'm guessing.
Most places don't use diapers, it's much more normal to keep the kid bare-bottomed or use something like the split-crotch pants used in China to facilitate timed or cue-based (usually a hissing noise a bit like running water) elimination.
