OMFG...If you've got to smack chewing gum, DON'T do it while you're talking to me on the phone.
:grr: :mad: A woman in another office on campus just called me to ask me a question. She was chomping and smacking on chewing gum, and she couldn't even get the damn words out of her mouth. :nuke: She was too busy giving the gum hell to talk to me. :wtf: She was the one who called ME. :shrug:

This has been today's rant. :patriot:

10. I nearly did.
Fortunately, it was a relatively short conversation. :) I once told a student to call me back when they were finished with their meal. :grr: She called ME and tried to have a conversation while eating, drinking, AND listening to the stereo very loudly. It was so annoying I couldn't stand it. It's rude and obnoxious. That student was kind of surprised that I'd tell her that, but she called me back in about 20 minutes with no stereo on and no food or drink. :)

6. Human beings don't chew gum to begin with, let alone when talking with someone.
Easiest way to tell if someone has decided to leave the human race and become nothing more than an animal that isn't fit to live.

7. It could be worse.
You could have been talking to the woman who called me last year about some bookshelves I listed in craigslist, who WAS BRUSHING HER TEETH THE ENTIRE TIME. And, note, SHE called ME.

18. I am afraid
that over the years I have become more and more intolerant of gum chewing. I speak out about it regularly in my classes and provide my personal perspective on how ugly it is. I am just getting to be an old grouch on this matter.
