Why ?
As I sit here in NY with a new(used) truck that I recently purchased in Florida only to be told by New York's motor vehicle dept that I cannot register the truck here because I need a title which was not provided by the car dealer (Florida isn't a title state)... I wonder :banghead: why it seems simple little things are so difficult.

Do you ever ask yourself "Why"

I had a similar problem with the state of Colorado and a car bought in
Washington state. It took nearly a year to straighten out. I hope it goes more quickly for you. :(

2. Were you able to drive the car while you were working it out?

Thanks for your good wishes! :hi:

NY told me to park it until it was registered. I've been driving it since 3/31 without knowing that it wasn't registered properly. I may have to fly back south to retrieve my other car. x(

4. Yes I forced the state of Colorado to give me temporary tags and registration

and then called the Washington state DMV and the car dealership and had them talk to a supervisor at the Colorado DMV about getting it straightened out. It still took forever and I ended up having to get emissions testing (on a brand new car?) but it was worth the extra to get it straightened out.

You'd think they would learn how to work together but, I guess not.

6. I totally freaked at 4PM yesterday but I'm really f i n e now.
I know I will need to have the car inspected but it's so new that I don't think there will be any problems with that.

Yesterday the local DMV gave me two NY Motor Vehicle phone numbers to call on Monday and I keep reminding myself that it'll all be okay but I was livid yesterday. I don't intentionally break laws but I've been driving around in an unregistered car for over a month. I'm not sure but in NY that may be a moving violation and could cause me to get points on my otherwise clean license. The Florida car dealer said they mailed all of the necessary information to NY but NY still thinks that my plates are on the PT Cruiser. BTW I traded cars on 3/31.

3. A rare sight indeed!
Well ... considering that I drove home without getting a ticket *whew* it could be worse ... to make matters a little bit more challenging - the check engine light came on so I need to make another appointment at a Ford dealer. I had it checked-out the week after I bought the truck  it's still under warranty, it's just another delay.

I have so much to do here but I need wheels and my other 7 wheels are still in Florida. I'm 1/2 here & 1/2 there so right about now my head is spinning and I feel more scattered than I used to be.

I really should be back in my southern home next month because the floor (the one I've been talking about since last year) is finally being installed.
We have a great deal of work to do before we can list the house for sale if we are going to get anything like what it's worth. We are moving forward but it feels more like

7. I'd like to know 'why ...
... it's taking me so darned long to drive over to see you'.

I do believe my next move will be a few hundred miles north of my current south florida apartment.
I feel too separated from my DU friends way down there. :hi: :loveya:

9. Thank you for clearing that one up for me.
Now I have more to discuss with the dealer on Monday morning.

I was talking with a friend who lives (and owns a car) in Fort Lauderdale ... he has never gotten a title on any of his cars. Maybe it's something he needs to look into too.

11. My 5 year old daughter asked me "why" about 47,000 times today.
I'm so ready for this phase to end.
